Best Machine to Use with each workout?

Postby Jeffcardio on Thu Mar 11, 2010 4:49 pm

Hey gang, I was hoping you could help me with something... We have a client who does not like Volume 2 Original for the spin bike. They want one that is more upbeat. Which Volume do you think is best for a great spin bike workout? Thanks

Hi Jeff! . Hello!

Upbeat.. V7 hands down. Have to add V4 as it was my favorite for a long time and every time I run to it, I fall in love all over again.

Don't know about spin bike. I use CC only for running: outdoors and treadmill . I am not a big fan of the cycle or elliptical. But I will have answers for you soon as I posted at my favorite forum.

I second Volumes 4 and 7, with 7 being the most upbeat musically \:D/ . I really like 5 and 6, too, but I'd definitely try 4 and 7 first.

ETA that in my opinion, all of the workouts, structurally, are well suited for the spin bike. Volume 8 is totally uphill and the music is... well it's not exactly upbeat, but it does have a driving beat and it's pretty popular. You definitely know you are fit when you reach the end of it. :smt005

If you go to the main homepage, you can listen to brief clips from each volume. http://www.cardiocoach.com/

Thanks Ooty and Michelle, I appreciate the feedback. As I don't do spin myself, I had to ask you the fans for this help ;-)

Jeff,

You would have to ask Seano.. the maestro. . Music tastes are subjective though..what is upbeat to me may not be upbeat to someone else. It might help to know if your client likes hills versus sprints. Like Michele wrote, V8 is pretty hilly. Oh gosh, got to run.. my boy is bugging me.

Hi Jeff, I've been using CCs lately on the spin bike. I have to say I have loved doing Vol 8. It's now my favourite on the spin bike (I have to admit I do prefer hills on the bike to sprints). Vol 7 is also great as well and vol 6. I'm not sure I've done vol 4 on the bike yet so I can't give you advice on that one.

I would not recommend V8 to someone who is just getting started with CC. Tan is a seasoned veteran :)

I was going to use V2(original) today. It has been a long time since I used it. Unfortunately, I had taken my son's ipod as my nano is dying and I didn't have it on the ipod.

The responses that my beloved forum friends gave made me smile. Sorry..we are all so addicted to CC that all of them just wrote.. we love CC. There was no preference for any particular equipment. Anyways, Jeff I think any of the volumes scored by Todd may be more suited to your client. ( i.e not the originals...)

Here is what they said

I get the sense that most people seem to use it for running ( but I might be biased as that is the only way I use it).

Ooty, that's cos running is the BEST way to do CC workouts :smt007

I've used CC on the spin bike, stationary bike, treadmill, elliptical and outdoors and outdoors wins hands down (followed at a distance by the spin bike)

Oh, no no no... the elliptical is the BEST way to use CC workouts! I also use it on my incline trainer, and that's a lot of fun, especially since I've started actually running here and there. But my heart is with the elliptical.

As for the original question - you know, I think the best thing is to let your client try them out and see. Everyone has their own preferences. I love hills and high resistance, but others like sprinting and high speeds, which is probably why they prefer running. Of course that means that somehow this client will have to lay his hands on all of the workouts... oh darn... What does he like? Speed or hills? If we knew that, we could point you in the right direction.

A special hello to Michele, Tanya and Ooty!!!

ETA - I forgot the "upbeat" part of the original post. Duh. As far as upbeat workouts go, Vol 7 wins hands down. I listen to that one whenever I need a lift. Both the music and the message are wonderful. I also think Vol 5 has some darned good music.

I think if this client is just starting out, then Vol 1 or 2 revised would be good, as would be Vol 2 original. Vol 1 original isn't my favorite workout either, but it is a good workout and is in my rotation. I started out with Vol. 2 original as my very first CC and it hooked me for good. I however have never done any CC on a spin bike.

Hi Shannon! Just dropped in to say "hi" back to you. I am surprised you remembered me.
And I do think a lot of people love CC with elliptical.
I am not good at "ellipti"cling.

Tanya: Yes, for me running outdoors rocks. I don't even like the treadmill much anymore. Take care sweetie!

Hi Joyce. You might remember me from your early days here at CC forum.

Joyce, so good to see you here.

:smt006 Hi Shannon. Nope running wins hands down. I did CC on the elliptical trainer early on but I haven't done it that way for a while now. BTW I hate sprints and like hills - so what does that say about me when I love running? :-k

Ooty I still like the treadmill, but love outdoor running... oh how badly I miss it... It's been soooooo long since I could run and even longer since I could run outdoors.

Hi Ooty and Tanya...I try to check in. Lost my new user name's password for a while, but Colleen fixed me right up. All the forums and boards and Facebook, etc., sometimes I get overloaded, but I try to check in.

Ooty, OF COURSE I remember you, always enjoy reading your posts.
